Online Video Poker Information

Players can also choose between single hand video poker and multihand video poker and this means that you can bet on just one hand at a time or you can bet on up to as many as 100 hands at a time. This popular game is based on five card draw poker and it would help to have some kind of poker knowledge before attempting to play this game. Let’s just take a quick look at the main winning hands.

When playing most video poker games online today, the lowest possible winning hand is usually a pair of tens or higher. You will not receive a prize if you end up with just a high card. After a pair, the next best hand is 2 pair (for example 2, 2, J, J + any other card). The next best win in video poker is three of a kind (for example 2, 2, 2 or J, J, J and it doesn’t matter what the remaining two spare cards are).

After a three-of-a-kind win, the next best hand is a straight (for example 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, any suit). The next best win is a flush (can be any five cards, but must all be the same suit, for example 2, 3, 6, 9, Q of clubs). The next best win is a full house (for example three of a kind and any pair, e.g. 2, 2, 2, J, J). Then it is four of a kind (for example 2, 2, 2, 2 and any other card). The Straight Flush is the second highest win (for example 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of the same suit) and the best win is a Royal Flush (for example 10, J, Q, K and A of the same suit).

You don’t have to play against any other players when you play this game and you also don’t have to try and beat the dealer. You simply set your stake and then press ‘draw’ or ‘start’ when you are ready to start a new round. As soon as a new hand begins, you will be dealt five face-up cards. You then have the option of being able to change any of these cards one time. You can discard just one of these cards or you can discard up to all five.

The cards that you didn’t hold in place (so the ones that you chose to discard) will then be redealt once and hopefully these new cards will help to form a better hand.
