The amount of decks that each baccarat variety is played with will slightly vary and in this section we will be taking a look at Baccarat from Playtech which is played with a total of six decks. The main aim of this game it to try and end up with a hand with a point total which is as close to 9 points as possible. You can place your money on the bankers hand to win and/or the players hand to win, and/or for the game to end in a tie. The Ace is worth 1 point, the numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 and are worth their face value in points and all of the 10’s, Jacks, Queens and Kings are worth zero points. As soon as you have placed a wager, both you and the banker will be dealt a hand containing 2 cards.
Just add up the value of those cards to find out the total number of points that each hand is worth. If the hand value comes to a 2-digit number, you simply ignore the first digit and the value of that hand would be the last digit. In other words, if you are dealt a 6 and a 4, this would equal 10, so this hand would be worth 0 points. Here’s a different example. If you are dealt a 6 and a 7, the cards would equal 13 and so this hand would be worth 3 points.
In some cases, a third card will be dealt to either the players hand, to the bankers hand or to both hands. For more information about this you would need to look into the Third Card rules section. Cards will be dealt from a shoe (which in this case contains 6 decks) and these cards will be shuffled with each new hand.
If you placed your chips on the players hand to win and this hand does in fact win, you will be paid 2:1. You will also be paid 2:1 if you placed your chips on the bankers hand to win and this hand wins, minus 5% bank commission. If the result happens to end in a tie and you placed your chips on this particular outcome, you will receive winnings based on 9:1 odds.
