Signs Of The Times?

Paving the way ahead almost, that is. Here’s what is going on. As you know there is serious talk at the highest levels of finally legalizing online casinos in South Africa. In fact, you may already be aware of the Big Africa Summit which is coming up soon. All eyes will be on the event as the participants eagerly discuss the South African Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and it’s tentative plans to regulate online gambling.

With that in mind, perhaps another clear sign that legalized online casino action is just around the corner in South Africa is an upcoming workshop. The interesting thing to note about this workshop is that it is specifically set up for youth.

Perhaps recognizing that the youth are already all over the Internet and all things online anyway, the National Responsible Gambling Program(NRGP) has scheduled a series of workshops for youths and young adults. Interestingly, the first of these workshops will be hosted by none other than the former Kaizer Chiefs captain Jimmy Tau.

The goal of these workshops is to make sure that youth understand the ins and outs of gambling, both online and offline. According to NRGP director, Nana Magomola, the workshops are designed to help these youth understand that the actions they take will have consequences. In other words, it will be all about understanding the risks of going overboard with gambling and learning the value of applying a bit of thinking beforehand.

More to the point, the NRGP has stated that one of their goals is to teach the value of taking risks responsibly. Part of the lessons will also include proper and responsible financial management. To put it another way, the NRGP wants to make sure these youth come away from the workshops with a clear understanding of the risks of gambling really are and how best to manage them.

For South African online casino fans, this really is tremendous news. It is a clear sign that online casino action, legal and fully regulated by the y is no longer just a topic for discussion, but is actually on the way to becoming an everyday reality. Preparing the younger generation with these workshops is yet another step in what has been a rather long process.
